Computational and Cognitive Neuroscience program at Amrita Mind Brain Center blends neuroscience, neurology, psychiatry, decision sciences and computational modeling to investigate the neural underpinnings of cognitive processes and problems in neurological and psychiatric diseases. This interdisciplinary approach equips students with an deeper understanding of brain function and behavior. Apart from research, applicants are trained in the basics of neuroscience, cognitive psychology, statistics, machine learning, and computational modeling. Mentored by faculty at the center, the core focus of this PhD program is centered on research relating to projects in brain function, neurological diseases, Neuro AI, perception, memory, decision-making, neurorobotics and others. The dissertation phase entails original research, often involving the development and validation of computational models, generating data from experiments and elaborations of behavioral and cognitive phenomena. Graduates have had careers in academia, research, industry, and beyond, where they contribute to advancing the development of methods and algorithms, working with medical teams for assessing and interpreting brain functions and principally, applying computational tools to address real-world problems.
The Mind-Brain Center researchers explore the brain and mind organization and function using experimental methods, computational neuroscience, and cognitive modelling from an interdisciplinary perspective going through the effects of neurotransmitters, network dynamics, and behaviour, during normal and disease conditions.
B.Tech., M.Tech., M.B.B.S., M.Sc., MD in any Engineering, Science or medical discipline. A statement of purpose should be included along with the application.
