ADWAITHA ‘13 is the Women In Engineering (WIE) Forum of Kerala section of IEEE Student Chapter. ADWAITHA aims to bring up the young ,talented and vibrant women leaders and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their talents ,express ideas and mingle with like minded people and share their thoughts with successful entrepreneurs. ADWAITHA is dedicated to promote women engineers and scientists and inspire girls to innovate for the benefit of humanity.
The event was held at College of Engineering, Trikaripur, Kasargodu on 12 & 13 October 2013.
The talk aimed at introducing the features of Amrita Mitra, a personal safety device. The device is designed to help police, relatives & friends to reach the user by monitoring the location in real time, in the time of distress. With the click of a button the user can get help immediately anytime and anywhere.It also alerts hospitals, NGOs and self help groups. The features include real-time tracking, safety zone monitor, SOS alerts, conference voice call, crowdsourcing, live stream, fall detection, multi lingual support, wearable.
The session was very interactive, with a lot of questions from the audience. Question were mainly regarding the battery life, network availability, false triggers, technology used and the price. One of the suggestions received from the audience was to provide a platform for students to take part in such innovative projects. Another suggestion was to add a stop button in the device, so that, the user can stop the device from sending the alerts in case of false triggers.
