School of Biotechnology welcomed its new batch of students  in a unique induction program titled “SWAGATHAM 2013″ on August 21, 2013

SWAGATHAM in Sanskrit means welcome. The senior students welcomed their juniors in a traditional way by tying “Rakhi”, usually tied by sisters and brothers between themselves as this year’s induction programme was happening around the time of “Rakshabandhan Mahotsav” througout the country.

New Students entered ceremonially into the school by lighting a lamp in front of the Saraswati statue and greeted by their senior brothers and sisters.

Later Swamini Krishnamrita Prana inaugurated the induction program in the presence of our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Venkat Rangan and our Dean, Dr. Bipin Nair. Dr. Jeff Perry from the world famous Scripps Research Institute of USA was the chief guest of the day.

After the official inaugural programme, students had an informal session with their Seniors which included different games & cultural programs. The parents were introduced and trained on the usage of the Amrita University Management Suite(AUMS) Parent’s Portal by which they could track their wards’ performance throughout the period of study at Amrita.
