Use of tobacco is the single most significant contributing factor for this cancer. In many cases, alcohol abuse makes it worse. Over the years, an interdisciplinary team of physicians at the Head and Neck Institute has treated several complicated cases. The institute, which was the first of its kind in India, offers M Ch training in head and neck surgical oncology to medical students.
Dr. Moni has trained in head and neck surgical oncology from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York. Prior to his specialization, he trained as a dentist at the University of Mysore. He is an editorial review board member for six international journals. In 2009, he will be keynote speaker at the 11th Annual Scientific Meeting for the Head and Neck Society in Australia. We congratulate him on his appointment.
