Abstract : Aorto-esophageal fistula is a rare and potentially lethal disease. The main causes are ruptured aortic aneurysm, foreign body ingestion, complication of surgical or endovascular repair of thoracic aortic aneurysm, and esophageal malignancy. We report a case caused by fish-bone ingestion. He underwent replacement of proximal descending aorta using circulatory arrest and trans-hiatal esophagectomy in the same sitting. A second-stage esophago-coloplasty was performed after 6 months for establishing digestive tract continuity.
