Abstract : A 7-year-old boy presented with a 2-week history of respiratory complaints. The child's father said that his son was inseparable from his pet dog. A chest radiograph showed a homogenous opacity in the right lower lobe that was suspected to be an ecysted effusion. Sonograph findings confirmed the presence of the ecysted effusion. Percutaneous drainage was performed under aseptic conditions with continuous sonographic guidance and intensive monitoring to treat any complications. With use of a transthoracic approach, the cyst was punctured by a 20-gauge needle, and the cyst contents were aspirated rapidly. Cyst fluid was sent immediately for microbiological examination (Figure 1 and Figure 2), which revealed the actively motile larval form of a parasite (Videos 1, 2, and 3).
