Abstract : An alteration in the energy source is demanded which leads us to more efficient ways in sequestering solar energy using concentrating thermal collectors. This work is mainly performed to investigate and analyse the usage of selective absorption coating on the inner and outer walls of the absorber tube of a solar parabolic trough collector. This paper also analyses the changes in performance when using forced circulation for controlling the flow of working fluid through the absorber tube by using fans and pump and increasing the contact surface. The efficiency of the system was found to be around 55% and an increase in the efficiency of around 10 % was observed.
