Six research papers written by students of the Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT) were recently accepted for presentation at major international conferences.
“Peer-reviewers requested no additional changes and recommended the papers for direct acceptance,” proudly stated Dr. Shyam Diwakar, Assistant Professor at ASBT, who guided the students to write these papers.
Harilal Parasuram, Sathyaa Subramaniyam, Krishna Chaitanya Medini, Nimshitha Abdulmanaph and Priyanka James wrote the papers based on the work they completed for their dissertation as part of their M.Sc. (Bioinformatics) program.
Three of the accepted papers will be presented at the 5th International Conference on Bio-Inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA 2010) to be convened in UK in September. See Paper Details »
The conference is sponsored by IEEE and the papers will be indexed by IEEE Explore.
“The program chair of BIC-TA 2010 personally informed me during a telephonic conversation that the papers being high quality, the program editorial committee directly accepted immediately after the first reviewer replied,” added Dr. Shyam.
Three papers will be presented at Neurocomp 2010 in Lyon, France, in October. “The Neurocomp 2010 papers are extensions of the study and similar in overall work although case studies (like disease conditions modeled) are different.”
Both conferences will bring together the top research scientists in the field of computational neurosciences, wherein engineers and mathematicians attempt to unravel the mysteries of the brain through complex computational analyses.
The Amrita students’ work is a part of the research activities encompassed by the MHRD-funded Virtual Labs project. It will impact the future of virtual neurophysiology lab and the pilot biotechnology lab.
