Abstract : This paper describes the modelling, analysis, and mitigation of power-quality problems caused by nonlinear loads connected to supply. Hybrid filters can be developed using one, two or three passive and active filters either to improve the performance or to reduce the cost of the system compared with single active or passive filters. An improved and low-cost sensor technology is also responsible for reducing the cost and improving the response of Hybrid Power Filters (HPFs). This work studied the power-quality problems caused by AC voltage controller with resistive load and series RL load as nonlinear loads using MATLAB Simulink and proposed hybrid power filters to mitigate the power-quality issues.
