Abstract : This paper deals with high temperature dry sliding wear behavior and its mechanism of carburised and untreated cam roller material AISI 8620 steel. The sliding wear behaviour of the carburised and untreated AISI 8620 steel was investigated using a pin on disc equipment at 100°C with varying parameters like normal load and sliding velocity. SEM features of worn samples reveal that abrasion with shallow ploughing, delamination, debris generation are the dominant wear mechanisms of carburised AISI- 8620, while for AISI8620 wear mechanism through ploughing, deep grooving, prow formation and adhesive fragments in the form of loose fine wear particles.
