Abstract : Face recognition has gained vast acceptance over the years as a prominent technique for individual identification and authentication. This article deals with the comparison of prominent algorithms belonging to feature based and appearance based face recognition. These algorithms were implemented in OpenCV and evaluated on different databases. Their performance with respect to accuracy and computational time are presented.
