Software Defined Network architecture has made the network more flexible to manage. SDN’s centralized nature of abstracting the control plane from data forwarding function has made the management of the network much easier. Usage of SDN has brought some benefits on cost and ease of maintenance. In spite of having huge benefits of SDN, it is prone to different security attacks. Many works have projected the different possible attacks on SDN and possible solution. This proposed research main focus is to get refined security features such as firewall similar to the existing model on conventional network. However, deploying the Machine Learning concepts to detect the major attacks will also be looked in. Also, how the SDN architecture could support in terms of security for the protocols like Border Gateway Protocol, Open Shortest Path First, Interior Gateway Protocol etc. are the related prospective research dimensions.
