Dr. Raghu Raman, Director of Amrita Center for Ranking, Accreditation and Eminence (Amrita CARE) and Amrita IQAC, was invited as a panel speaker to present his views on National rankings: the state of arts and expected changes with special attention to methodology due to COVID-19, during IREG Beijing Conference 2020, which was conducted from October 20-22,2020, with 200+ participants around the globe.

Several university rankings were discussed in detail at the conference, including eight international rankings: THE, ARWU, QS, US News Global, Webometrics, Leiden, the Three University Missions and U-Multirank, and four national rankings: Best University Ranking (UK), Folha (Brazil), CHE (Germany) and Perspektywy University Ranking (Poland) and National Institute of Rankings Framework NIRF ( India)

Referring to the broad representation of ranking organisations at the conference, Luiz Claudio Costa, president of IREG, said: “It proves that IREG is an independent neutral forum that embraces all interested in the quality of rankings, and quality of higher education in general.”

Dr. Raghu Raman was one of the panelists and shared his view of promising opportunities and a roadmap that India has created with New educational policy (NEP 2020) that helps in Branding India to be a place of next world-class education destination for coming 10 to 20 years.   National and international academic rankings are consistently expanding function as an indicator of the nature of advancing education organizations and helps universities to grow sustainable. Keeping this point in his mind, He has compared global ranking frameworks THE and QS with national ranking framework NIRF and NAAC, giving his view on rankers are ought to be dependent upon some kind of positioning or rating. He has also specified Our Chancellors words and unique specialty of Our university vision – “compassion driven research” for global sustainable well-being, has given the flexibility of our university to be one of the top universities in all national and international ranking frameworks.
