Abstract : In this work, an improved 1φ multilevel inverter topology has been proposed. The proposed topology requires a reduced number of switching components and isolated DC sources. The detailed circuit configuration, and performance of the proposed topology at two different modes (15-level and 21-level) of operation has been explained. Furthermore, to achieve higher efficiency by reducing the switching losses, a fundamental frequency switching technique has been implemented. The performance of the proposed topology has been verified from the simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
