Final year students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Coimbatore campus, Rahul Goyal and Preethi Mu, recently won the All India NetRiders Competition conducted by Cisco Systems.
The online competition was conducted by Cisco over the Webex platform that facilitates web conferencing, online meeting and video conferencing.
The two-round competition saw participation from 55 teams drawn from various engineering colleges across India.
In the first round, the duo tackled 100 questions in 60 minutes. During round two, they worked with a simulation program to generate a network with several devices.
The competition was open to all students in India who had completed or were enrolled in the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) course.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a Regional Networking Academy for Cisco, and Preethi and Rahul were enrolled in the course on campus.
“From the very beginning of their classes, they both displayed a keen interest in networking. Their course curriculum includes network applications and protocols,” shared Kohila Lakshmikanthan, Senior Academic Instructor, ICTS (Information and Communication Technologies Services).
Added Mr. Sreevalsan, Head, ICTS, “The students are very hard working and dedicated. We are proud that they won the All India NetRiders Competition.”
The duo will now go on to compete in the online Asia Pacific NetRiders Challenge on October 25, where they will represent India. Should they win, Rahul and Preethi will fly to San Jose to the Cisco headquarters for the world finals.
In past years also, Amrita students have aced the regional challenge, but are yet to make their mark on a global level.
Will Preethi and Rahul change that? We sure hope so. We wish them all the best!
