The Visual Media and Communication department at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham-Kochi has pioneered a uniquely incorporated combination of innovative media theories and practical works, designed to foster the critical understanding and creative use of the audio-visual media.
The Department has many achievements to its credit. It is associated with the Google News Initiative Network to give training to the students on Misinformation and Fake information identification, advanced data collection and analysis using Google tools. The department has successfully conducted 70 Vidyamirtam sessions (Expert Talks) to nourish the student community. It is also associated with Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) to commence the Youth Communication Club (YCC) and has membership of the UNESCO MIL (Media and Information Literacy) Network alliance.
The Department also boasts of robust infrastructure replete with Visual Media production and postproduction facilities, 2 Fully equipped audio and video labs for post-production, news reading and anchoring, a Preview Theatre equipped with 2k projection facility and 7.1 surround sound facility. It also houses an excellent film library with more than 500 world film classics and learning DVD’s, Audio and video studio and VFX production area with chroma screens, Latest studio lighting and trolley system, Dubbing Studio with real time recording capacity upto 16 channels, Pro Tools Editing Suite and a Design Incubation Lab – providing nurturing environment for students to enhance their creative design ideas.
