The Mahābhārata, known as the pañcamaveda, reflects the knowledge of the Vedās, benefitting the entire humanity. An especially pertinent question to comprehend is, “How to approach this grand Itihāsa?”, in order to soak in the nectar of wisdom it offers. Śrī Mātā Amritānandamayī Devī says, “There is a significant difference between the wisdom of one who has travelled to the moon, and of the one who has observed the moon from Earth.” If Mahābhārata is the moon, then Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa Dwaipāyana Vyāsa is the one who has travelled to it and composed the Itihāsa, while the multitude of various other poets and writers are like ones who have been inspired by the beauty of the moon and penned their retellings and imaginations.
The workshop is designed as a critical reading exercise. A package of intensive academic discussions of select texts from Vyāsa Mahābhārata, alongside popular commentaries, opinions and articles on the same, is at the heart of this workshop.
