An international symposium on ‘Workplace Transformation: A People’s Perspective’, the health and wellness initiative titled ‘Vidya’, the outreach event titled Prana 2017- Plant and Distribute Saplings Initiative and various business competitions and games such asChakravyuh 2017 were conducted as the part of 7th edition of Asthra.
An international symposium on ‘Workplace Transformation: A People’s Perspective’(link is external) was held at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (AIMS) campus, Kochi. The event was attended by about 400 students and faculty from management educational institutions in and around Kochi. The event stands out as unique in terms of discussing and deliberating the most contemporary themes of the dynamic transformations happening in the workplace, the world over.
As a precursor to 7th edition of Asthra, the students of Department of Management, Kochi campus, organized a social relevant event titled ‘Vidya’- a learning programme and Prana- 2017, the outreach event of plant and distribute saplings to schools at Kochi.
‘Vidya’ is a learning programme supported by Swasti, the health and wellness initiative of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. The programme was a two day affair held from November 25-26, 2017, that mainly targeted school children. The sessions included aptitude, communication, career guidance, healthy lifestyle, depression and social connectedness.
Emphasizing the urgency and importance of saving our planet Earth, the management students of Kochi campus, came up with the initiative, Prana. The inaugural function was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, on November 1, 2017, the Kerala Piravi Dinam. Dr. Abdul Ghani, the Green Man of India, was the guest of honour and Mr. C. N. Mohanan, Chairman of Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) was the Chief Guest for the day. The faculty members and staff members of the Department of Management, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, accompanied the students to S. R. V. Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam and Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam, where they planted saplings inside the school premises and distributed saplings to school children with the consent of the school authorities to promote the campaign.
As a business plan competition and a business quiz competition, the students conducted Chakravyuh 2017, that offered prize money worth of 65K. The event held at the campus on December 7, 2017, as the part of seventh edition of ASTHRA, the annual management festival of MBA programme at Kochi campus. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Sunanda Muralidharan, Chairperson, Department of Management, Kochi, and the welcome address was delivered by Mr.Ashish Joy, Vice President, Chakravyuh. Out of 92 registration, 10 teams were selected for final presentation and two teams were selected as winner and runner-up by the jury which consisted of Mr. Sujai G. Pillai, Senior Manager, Amrita TBI, Mr. Hari P. K. and Mr. Gopikumar V., Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Kochi. The first year students of Department of Management, Amritapuri campus, were the winners of the business plan competition. The business quiz competition was held with 16 teams and the quiz master for the competition was Dr. Nitish Jacob. The quiz competition was followed by a panel discussion which involved Mr. Sujai G Pillai, Senior Manager, Amrita TBI, Mr. Hari P. K., Mr. Gopikumar V., Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Kochi and Ms. Chandra Vadhana on the topic of entrepreneurship.
