Summary of the Event:
School Level Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), School Level Research Committee and in association with Department of Computer Science has organized a webinar on Machine Learning V/S Deep Learning, When and How to Use for the research scholars, faculty and PG students of Computer Science department. The main aim of this webinar was to make the participant understand the difference between machine learning and deep learning algorithms and their usage in different real time applications.
Dr. Dinesh R, Principal Engineer, Samsung Electro Mechanics, Bengaluru was the resource person for the webinar. In the beginning of the webinar sir gave the detailed explanation about the difference between Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Then he spoke about the different types of learning like supervised, unsupervised, semi supervised and reinforcement learning, the challenges of machine learning and how deep learning algorithms can overcome these challenges. Later he explained the architecture of deep learning models, convolutional neural network (CNN), types of CNN like AlexNet, VGGNet, LenNet, ResNet and so on. How to design a deep learning model, advantages of deep learning, challenges and steps to overcome these challenges are also well addressed in the session. At the end of his presentation, he gave lot of ideas to the participants to work on many real time applications and also, he presented many research problems which greatly helped the budding research scholars.
Finally, the session was open for questionnaires, research scholars, faculty and other participants clarified their doubts and myths they had regarding machine learning and deep learning. The session was very interactive and it was very useful to the participants. There were about 32 participants attended the webinar.

Outcome: Faculties and MCA Students understood the usages of Machine Learning in their research project/work.
