The AMRITA-TESA-TESPA Advanced Metrology Lab was inaugurated by Sampoojya Swamiji, Purnamritananda, on September 17, 2007 at Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus. Amritapuri Campus Director Br.Sudeep, Dean of Engineering Dr. K. B. M. Nambudripadu, Associate Dean Dr. Balakrishnan Sankar , Amrita School of Engineering Principal Dr. Sankaran and Chairperson of the department of Mechanical Engineering Dr. Ganesha Udupa were also among the dignitaries present at the inaugural session.
This was followed by a talk on the topic, Importance of Metrology and Non contact Inspection by Mr. Sridhar, Vice President, TESPA. The talk was broadcasted to Coimbatore and Bengaluru campuses simultaneously.
On January 21, 2007, an MoU was signed between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and TESA S.A. at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Coimbatore campus. This project mainly aimed at providing education and training on advanced metrological solutions to the students, institution researchers, Industrial and scientific communities in India through a broad based Amrita Satellite network and will be jointly carried out by TESA, Switzerland, TESA Tools India and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus.
Mechatronics and Intelligence Systems Lab has been created to provide Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham students, a center from which to develop and implement robotic technology. This goal oriented research center will enable students from multiple disciplines to learn, create and apply knowledge in a variety of advanced topics such as Machine Vision & Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing & Speech Recognition, Advanced Algorithms, Digital Architecture Development, Communication Networks, Mechatronics and Electronic Controls and Artificial Intelligence.
