By 2050, it is envisaged that more than half of the worldwide population will live in urban areas. Owing to this trend, solutions and policies need to be set forth in order to manage resource consumption, wastage and overall costs in urban spaces. Smart technologies in cities offer huge potential to revolutionize a range of utilities and services in urban spaces in areas such as healthcare, public safety, transportation, energy, water and smart buildings. Leveraging emerging technologies such as IoT, cloud computing, big data, machine learning and AI can help achieve economic and environmental sustainability – however, realizing this requires an understanding of local and regional context. The goal of the workshop, is to provide a forum where a diverse group of researchers can share the latest research insights, present key and novel results on both theoretical concepts and innovative applications to provide global perspectives on the next generation of smart cities

The workshop is looking for papers in the following areas:
Submitted papers must be unpublished and must not be currently under review for any other publication. Submissions must be full papers, at most 8 single-spaced US Letter (8.5” x 11”) pages, including figures, tables, references and appendices, or 2-page demo/poster abstracts. Authors must make a good faith effort to anonymize their submissions by: (1) using the “anonymous” option for the class and (2) using “anon suppress” section where appropriate. Papers that do not meet the size, formatting, and anonymization requirements will not be reviewed. The review of all papers will follow the general single-blind policy. Please note that ACM uses 9-pt fonts in all conference proceedings, and the style (both LaTeX and Word) implicitly define the font size to be 9-pt. Please refer to past publication chair’s Note as well as the User Guide of the new class.
