Bio

Dr. G. Gopakumar joined Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in June 2006. He holds an M.Tech. in Digital Image Computing from the University of Kerala and a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the College of Engineering, Karunagappally. He completed his Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, specializing in applied machine learning for analyzing microscopy images of cells.

Dr. Gopakumar’s research interests include Image Analysis and Machine Learning, with notable contributions to cell image classification and cytopathology. He has published extensively in Scopus-indexed journals, authored book chapters, and mentored numerous student projects. He has also demonstrated strong academic leadership, serving as the Program Chair for B.Tech. CSE AI during 2021 – 2023 and is contributing as a research and curriculum committee member.
