Dr. P. Rammanohar, Research Director of Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda at School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has been appointed as Member of Scientific Advisory Committee of National Institute of Ayurveda, an autonomous organisation under Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is partnering with 14 other institutions from EU, UK, China, Mexico, Mongolia, Paraguay in the ‘WeNet-The internet of Us.’ Dr. Shyam Diwakar, Director, Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology and Associate Professor, School of Biotechnology, Amritapuri, leads Amrita’s role in this project. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is the only partner from India.
Dr. Haroon Irshad, Associate Professor, Department of Moulika Siddhanta (Basic Principles of Ayurveda), School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, won the Best Paper Presenter Award under Teacher’s category in the scientific session of “Anusandhana 2019”- National Seminar and Workshop on Research Methodology & Biostatistics, held on February 22, 2019, at K. V. G. Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Sullia.
On February 4, 2019, Dr. Shyam Diwakar, from the Centre for Computational Neuroscience and Neurophysiology, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, met with the University of Milan La Statale’s Rector, Prof. Elio Franzini and had a discussion on augmenting joint possibilities with both Universities.
In the 77th Annual Conference of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOC 2019) held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh from February 14 – 17, 2019, Dr. Meenakshi Y. Dhar, Professor of Ophthalmology, School of Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, bagged the best poster award in Glaucoma for her poster titled “Ocular Blood Flow Characteristics of Open Angle Glaucoma Patients on Doppler Imaging.”
Amrita Learning App, a finalist in the Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE competition, emerged as a winner in its final phase amongst 108 other registered teams and was adjudged to be providing one of the best ways to accelerate adult literacy in the US using mobile solutions.
The DataScientia consortium of founding members includes Italy’s University of Trento, the National University of Mongolia, India’s Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, China’s Jilin University, Paraguay’s Catholic University of Asunción, South Africa’s Tshwane University of Technology and UK’s Heriot-Watt University.
As part of its commitment towards pursuing academic and scientific excellence, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, has added a high-tech Microbial Active Genetics Lab to its world-class research facilities. It was a day of great pride for the Amrita Biotech community as Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, inaugurated the advanced scientific laboratory on January 3, 2019.
Her Excellency Ms. Dana Kursh, Consul General of Israel to South India (Bengaluru), has inaugurated “Women in Sustaining the Environment” (WISE), a new collaborative research project between Amrita and Tel Aviv University on February 11, 2019 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus.
Dr. Aswathy S., Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine, School of Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, received the prestigious Bernard Lown Fellowship in Cardiovascular Health program which will enable her to work with the best minds in cardiovascular research at the Harvard. T. H. Chan School of Public Health.
