Abstract : Information security is the most debated and one of the hot topics in data communication. There are many security problems exist in communication technology which are very critical. One such problem is related to the confidentiality of the message exchange in web. The two prevalent strategies to provide message secrecy are Cryptography and Steganography. Cryptography conceals the existence of the message and the steganography mutilates the message itself. In this paper, we are mainly focusing on the strength of combining cryptographic and steganographic principles in enhancing the security of web based transactions. Web browser is the basic client side application that we use to execute such critical and noncritical transactions. Mozilla Firefox is one of the most popular open source web browsers and various studies reveals that more than sixty percentage of the web users are depending on this browser. There are certain security plug-ins available for Firefox browser but the one which integrates cryptographic and steganographic features is still missing. Taking this into consideration, in this work, we propose a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox browser which enhances the security features of all web based transactions. The plug-in can ensure high level of confidentiality in all data transactions.
