Secure storage of medical images using wavelet compression, visual digital signature scheme and visual cryptography

Abstract : Hospitals generate a lot of medical images for the correct diagnosis of patients. These records are considered as sensitive data and needs to be protected from attackers. In order to store these data, mass storage systems and sophisticated image processing systems are required. As a reason cloud computing has been adopted in the medical sector to overcome the challenge of storing these sensitive data in the local data center. It is scalable and reduces IT cost and customers are charged just for utilization. But storing these sensitive data in to the cloud brings a lot of security dangers. That is why we propose a method where digital signature is added to the image to ensure integrity,visual cryptography is applied to ensure confidentiality and wavelet based medical image compression for storage in a multi cloud environment. © Academic Press.
