Abstract : A micro grid is a small-scale power grid that can operate independently or in conjunction with the area's main electrical grid. Islanded micro grid may consist of both renewable as well as conventional energy resources. Power generation greatly depends on weather conditions. Supplying electrical energy in response to demand variations is a challenging task. An islanded urban ac micro grid is considered where the demand requirements are met by PV based active generators (AG), Micro gas turbines (MGT) and Diesel generators (DG).A portion of the total load is taken care of by Active Generators and the remaining part will be supplied by MGTs and DGs. Objective is the optimal load sharing between MGTs and DGs in the most economical way. The optimization problem is approached as a unit commitment problem based on day ahead PV generation and Load forecast. Basic simulations are performed in MATLAB/SIMULINK
