Abstract : This paper presents a hybrid energy storage for a dc micro-grid with distributed generation. Ultracapacitor and battery forms the hybrid energy storage system. Prespecified amount of power will be delivered or absorbed by the micro-grid. This method will allow the integration of large number of micro-grids to the utility grid. Power balance of the micro-grid is the main aim of the energy management method. MATLAB/Simulink simulation results are shown to confirm the proposed energy optimization method.
