Abstract : Diabetes mellitus is a heterogenous group of disorder which has its genetic background. It is categorized as one among the kulaja vikara (familial disorder). The knowledge of Prakruti (basic constitution) plays an important role in understanding its susceptibility. The interindividual variability confers to the differential susceptibility to common diseases and differential drug responsiveness. The present article is thus, an attempt to review on the genetic concept of Diabetes Mellitus in its Predictive, Preventive and personalised aspects.
