Abstract : Security and confidentiality plays an important role in the field of communication. Data Encryption Standard (DES) is a prominent symmetric cipher which provides confidentiality. DES uses a key length of 52 bits. In this advanced age, with huge resources and extreme computational power, DES algorithm is vulnerable to exhaustive search of the key. The key length of DES and static permutation matrices are not enough to ensure the security against brute force attack. A dynamic permutation mode is proposed to enhance the security DES algorithm from such attacks. Here, permutation matrices are changed with respect to the plaintext and thus making it more protective against brute force attacks.
