Abstract : The Kerala Government has proposed Integrated Coastal Zone Management with following mission to maximise economic benefits from living marine resources without compromising the long-term health of coastal and marine ecosystems through their scientific conservation and management, and promotion of the health of their environment. The ICZM project will also protect living marine resource habitat for the success of management and conservation efforts and improve the economic status of fisher families and to provide better living conditions in the Coastal area. This scheme envisages the activities to promote Integrated Coastal Zone Management of Kerala including preparation of vision document coastal strategy with suggestion for institutional arrangements and good governance platform.
