Abstract : This paper focuses on implementing the closed loop speed control of an induction motor using V/f method. A cascaded multilevel inverter is used to energise the stator windings of the three phase induction motor. The switching scheme used with the switching devices of the cascaded multilevel inverter is carrier phase shifted PWM. The switching methodology is similar to the unipolar switching technique. The simulation of the system is done in MATLAB/Simulink® platform. The results obtained for variations in load are presented. The areas in which there is scope for improvement are also mentioned. © Research India Publications.
