Abstract : As the title of this research paper brings up, it is a voyage of breaking down the trauma theory identified with a specific topographical zone; ie, Bangladesh. This paper examines the distinctive renditions of trauma being highlighted in a short story identified with Bangladesh partition. Though trauma has appeared in changed layers in every single scholarly business related to partition history this article deals with trauma theory identified with Bangladesh partition. As a major aspect of this exploration we analyse Prafulla Roy's short story "Father". Prafulla Roy has set Bangladesh partition as its background. It investigates the trauma experienced by a father (Shekharnath) who constantly needed to separate himself from his past recollections. These recollections included the homicide of his significant other Hemalata and abduction of his little girl Khuku by the agitators in Dhaka during partition riots. After this Shekharnath relocated to Calcutta which was followed by the demise of one of his children, Sanjay. Shekharnath didn't allow trauma of losing his dear ones to overwhelm him. He at that point turned out to be totally disconnected from the past. This points to his trauma of losing his identity and having to abandon everything. After a long while he is again put under an alternate horrendous encounter. Shekharnath encounters the past which he was attempting to overlook. This was the point at which he met his kidnapped girl Khuku after thirty years. Consequently these distinctive awful encounters is brought under one umbrella through this paper on trauma theory identified with Bangladesh partition analysed through Prafulla Roy's short story "Father". The various events in the story are supported by the factual statements given in data collected in the form of table and figures.
