Vishukkaineettam Vrikshathaineettam Project Inaugurated

Sri. K. Babu, Honorable Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Excise, inaugurated the project ‘Vishukkaineettam Vrikshathaineettam’ by handing over a sapling to cine actress, Seema G. Nair on April 14, 2015 at Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi. “This project envisaged by AMMA is a novel venture and a fine model for environmental protection,” said Sri K. Babu.

“It is very heartening to note that Mata Amritanandamayi Math is taking active interest not only in social upliftment, healthcare, research and education programs but also in environmental protection. Instead of protecting the nature, nowadays, we are engaged in destroying it. The deadly environmental crisis that we face today is actually the direct outcome of our reckless behavior in this regard,” the Minister added.  The Minster also noted that the students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have been continuously participating in large numbers in the “Amalabharatham” cleaning drive organized by Mata Amritanandamayi Math and this has become an inspiring model to all.

Seema G. Nair, Cine Artist; P. K. Krishnadas, BJP National Council Member;   Dr. K. N. Unni, Chairman, Amrita School of Dentistry; Dr. Balagopal Varma, Principal, Amrita School of Dentistry were the others who spoke on the occasion.  The “Vishukkaineettam Vrikshathaineettam” project inspired by Chancellor AMMA is led by the Youth Organization “AYUDH” (Amrita Yuva Dharma Dhara) of Mata Amritanandamayi Math. In this project, thousands of saplings were distributed during this Vishu season and these saplings were planted in government and private schools, villages, temples, houses and other public places.
