Join us for the Women Empowerment Expo, AMMACHI Labs

A regional exhibition to promote the graduates of the Women Empowerment Project is taking place in Coimbatore, TN on September 1st. The WE Project offers vocational training courses through computers in a number of handicraft, technical trades, and life skills. The aim of the project is to give the participants greater economic independence and self confidence. To date, over 2,000 women from Kerala and Tamil Nadu have participated in the course. This expo will help them showcase their new skills and raise money for them to hopefully start a business.

Around 50 women from 18 different areas in Kerala and Tamil Nadu will come to set up stalls and sell their products. The project graduates have also prepared awareness events to tackle social problems such as: domestic violence, dowry, and female foeticide. A special discussion between the women and experts in these topics is also arranged.

A live interaction with the United Nations Democracy Fund (project funding agency) in New York will be held via Skype during the event.

All are welcome to come and meet the women, to participate in the community discussions, and to learn more about the project. A special concert by the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Music Club will close the event.

Place: Savitha Hall, T.P. Road, R.S. Puram, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
