International Workshop on Haptics and Computerized Learning for Skill Development in Vocational Education

A Workshop on haptics and computerized learning for skill development in vocational education was held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kerala on January 3, 2012 as a part of International conference on technology enhanced education (ICTEE).

With focus on the SAVE multimedia enhanced vocational education software and haptic simulators for skill development developed by AMMACHI Labs of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the workshop provided the participants with gainful insight into the development, deployment and advantages of ICT in Vocational education and training. The workshop featured tutorial sessions on common household repairs presented by India’s first batch of women graduates of the computerized MES Plumbing course developed by AMMACHI Labs. Topics covered included Introduction to Haptic simulations and its role in skill development, Multimedia enriched applications for vocational education and tutorials on learning to troubleshoot common household plumbing problems.
