Brain Bytes 2014 Quiz Competition at Mysore Campus

A general knowledge quiz competition, Brain Bytes 2014, for Pre-university students was conducted at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysore campus on November 12, 2014. The objective of the competition was to motivate students to gain wide knowledge of the society they live in.  The competition attracted around 400 participants from more than 30 colleges in and around Mysore.

Addressing the delegates during the inaugural ceremony, Principal, Vijaya Vittala Composite PU College, Mysore, H Satya Prasad emphasized the need for developing good listening skills and a constant and continuous reading habit.

It was an informative experience for the students to complete the five rounds of the competition which included: written test, online test, Samasya- puzzles & riddles, Drishya- audio visual round and the final round- rapid fire.

Vijay Ravi and Maneesh A. from Vidyavardhaka Sangha Golden Jubilee PU College bagged the first prize. Vamshi K. & Simha Y. N. from Demonstration Multipurpose School won the second prize. The winners and the runners up were awarded with a cash prize and mementos during the valedictory function held the same evening. Cash prizes were also given away to 15 teams who were qualified for the semi finals and 5 teams who were qualified for the final round as an incentive to encourage them.

The Director of Mysore Campus, Br. Sunil Dharmapal, and Correspondent Br. Venugopal were present on the occasion.  The Principal, Prof. Vidya Pai C., presided over the function.

“We learnt many unknown facts and enjoyed being in Amrita. Thanks to Amrita for such a wonderful event,” shared Sandesh V Koushik, Vijaya Vittala Composite PU College.

“The event was fantastic and well organized. No other college organizes an event such as this for PU students,chimed in Abhishek R Vijaya Vittala Composite PU College.

“A great experience, we gained wealth of knowledge which is higher than cash prize. Also, the rounds were very innovative and interesting,” indicated Varun Holla K , Jnanodaya PU college.
