The Corporate and Industrial Relations Department of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham felicitated their alumna, Maduranthagi S., for her remarkable professional achievements. Maduranthagi is the current Deputy Collector of Coimbatore and was a graduate of the 2010 batch of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. She holds first rank in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group 1 Examination and she achieved this feat in her maiden attempt. Her initial posting is in Coimbatore.
Pradeep Menon, the principal organizer for Entrepreneurship and the Amrita Alumni Network, welcomed her to the campus. Prof. Parameswaran, Director of Corporate and Industrial Relations, Amrita Univerity felicitated her. In his speech, Prof. Parameswaran spoke about the pride and satisfaction the institution faculty and staff feel when their alumni make tremendous accomplishments. He added how alumni like her who are in Government service would be able to contribute directly to the betterment of  society by working with common people and solving their problems. He motivated the students present on the occasion to take up such challenging roles and be inspired by the success of Maduranthagi.
 
Dr. Jayakumar, Chairperson of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore expressed the pride he feels about the achievement that has been attained by one of his beloved students. He congratulated Maduranthagi for extending Amma’s mission in providing selfless service to the society.
 
Maduranthagi, in her address, profusely thanked Amrita for providing an excellent center of learning and education. She added that it is only because of the institution that she could achieve what she has accomplished today. She called on the students to earnestly consider taking up civil services as a career option. She answered student’s queries on how much time and effort she took to prepare for the civil services exam. She stressed that it is not how much time it takes to prepare, but focus and dedication that is required.
 
Binoy B. Nair, Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Engineering, Coimbatore, extended the vote of thanks and thanked Maduranthagi for accepting the invitation and coming to the event in spite of her busy schedule.  It was heartening for Amrita to see its students reaching the higher echelons. The effort to create such leaders through their education at Amrita will continue to be the goal!
