The Department of Physical Education, Coimbatore Campus, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized the South Zone Inter-university table tennis tournament along with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), on the campus from 4^th to 6^th October, 2017. 

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Abishek Ravichandran, Commonwealth Games bronze medalist in table tennis, who represented India in the World Table Tennis Championship. Mr. V. Ravi, Secretary, Coimbatore district Table Tennis Association; Dr. Mahadevan .S., Deputy Dean, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore; Prashant R.Nair, Vice-Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Coimbatore and Dr. Kumaresan O. J., Physical Education Director, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham also participated in the inaugural ceremony. Wg Cdr. A. Balachandran, Sr. General Manager Corporate Relations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, distributed the trophies to the winners; SRM University, Chennai, bagged the first place, Anna University, Chennai, VTU, Belgaum, and Karnatak University, Dharwad, won the second, third and fourth places respectively. 

The top four teams will compete in the All India Inter University Table Tennis Men’s Tournament, to be conducted at Utkal University from 13^th to 17^th February, 2018.
