The greatest invention
– beyond the shadow of any doubt – being that towering pillar of logic and reason,
that charming mistress that leads one on and on and on, each milestone appearing
wonderfully crystal clear in one’s mind before being substituted for the next one
being descried, vaguely far yet tantalizingly close - that is MATHEMATICS.
The world would be
unimaginably mundane, unbelievable non-technological and definitely more savage
without MATHEMATICS. An invention it is, because it is a veritable basketful of
conventional symbols that when strung together quantifies logic and gives meaning
to rationality and reality. Oh and did we mention we would still be, by far, in
a worse condition than the people of the Dark Ages without Mathematics?
If technology defines
civilization, then Mathematics is the firm bedrock upon which technology conveniently
rests. Without Mathematics then, there is no technology and by transitivity, no
civilization. No civilization implies no humanity. Mathematics then is the vital
link to our humanity.
What better way to
celebrate the greatest human invention of ALL time than to stretch our minds, jog
our imagination and participate in a national-level mathematical symposium?
We welcome all those who consider Mathematics as an integral
part of their lives, those you use Mathematics as just a tool, those who do it for
mental calisthenics or fun or those who are just in love with the invention-turned-subject
to MASTISHK 07.
