Aims and Scope of the Conference
Department of Social Work, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus and School of Social Work, the University at Buffalo, State University of NewYork are pleased to announce the First Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development. The conference will be held at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, India on June 3-5, 2011, which also commensurate with the World Environment Day.
The conference will focus on the crucial interfaces and dynamics of
sustainable development with respect to indigenous practices and technology.
It envisages exploring the opportunities and challenges in addressing sustainability through the integration of indigenous culture with present
day policies, practices, and technology. We invite contributions that
integrate the above dimensions from academicians, practitioners, government
and non-governmental organizations and research scholars from India and
abroad. Contributions are invited in the form of oral presentations and
poster presentations. The conference also has facilities towards virtual
presentation of accepted papers, in case the presenters are unable to attend
due to funding or time constraints. We also believe that virtual
presentations are green and could reduce our carbon footprint.
