Welcome to CompNeuro 2024: MSBFIINE International Symposium on Advancements in Computational Brain Research—an event dedicated to exploring the interdisciplinary fields of neuroscience, mathematics, and computational modelling. This event will be held online and is free for all to participate.
Join us online for a gathering of experts from different fields, all coming together to understand the spectacles of the brain and its complexities. MSBFIINE represents a collaborative scientific effort between Indian and Italian research groups.
The project aims to promote novel methods and approaches using mathematical and computational modelling to decode brain functions and related disorders. The collaboration brings together the expertise of scientists from both India and Italy, promoting a joint effort to advance our understanding of complex neurological processes for mutual benefit. The event broadly covers many fields including Computational Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Signal Processing, Human-Computer Interaction, and more.
Registration is mandatory for participation. The physical event will be held at Sharddha Hall, Amrita University Amritapuri campus, Kollam, Kerala, India.

Cerebellum-Inspired Models for Motor Control – Asha Vijayan
The 8th Annual Conference of Cognitive Science (ACCS8), held on January 2022, achieved its goal of bringing together researchers among diverse scientific communities. The conference welcomed theoretical developments addressing practical problems and case studies applying methodologies, spanning fields such as computer science, signal processing, HCI, psychology, linguistics, and philosophy of mind. Held in AMBC, the event introduced cognitive science to students and researchers from northeastern India, promoting interaction between theoreticians and practitioners. Keynote addresses by prominent researchers enriched the conference, which also featured oral and poster presentations showcasing the latest advancements in the multidisciplinary field. Overall, the three-day conference, ACCS8 successfully facilitated knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers and practitioners in cognitive science.
CompNeuro2024 is a collaborative initiative led by the Amrita Mind Brain Center along with IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, and the Italian Universities of Milan, Pavia, Modena and Emilia-Romagna as apart of an India-Italy Network of Excellence funded by DST, Government of India and MAE, Italy.. This network of excellence, centred on biomedical sciences, will explore the fundamental principles governing the understanding and functional translation of central nervous system cells and circuits. This Indo-Italy project aims to abstract mechanisms that can be applied to the development of devices. CompNeuro2024 is an interdisciplinary initiative directed towards exploring mathematical models, neuronal functions, and circuit dynamics within the cerebellum, basal ganglia, and spinal cord networks. The modelling efforts concentrate on connecting realistic large-scale microcircuit models, with a specific emphasis on modelling circuits and population signals critical to understanding both normal brain function and dysfunctions.
The Amrita Mind Brain Center was established by Chancellor Sri. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) to drive scientific advancements by combining focused efforts from multiple schools, integrating neurosciences, and experimental methods in the study of nervous systems and behaviour, building medical devices, furthering understanding of neurological disorders, paving new paths in the science of yoga and meditation, advance artificial intelligence and studying the mind and consciousness. With a focus on brain and mind-related health and technologies, the center will orchestrate the development and application of new technologies to investigate brain function, dysfunction, and therapy.
