Look at a tree. It gives shade even to a person who cuts it down. It gives its sweet, delicious fruits to the person who harms it. If a tree stops yielding fruit, we will cut it down and make furniture from it.

When we plant a tree or raise an animal, we are only concerned about the profit we will make from it. By protecting and preserving trees, plants, wild and domestic animals, we are protecting and preserving nature.

The real lover of nature doesn’t experience nature as being separate from oneself. A loving relationship between man and nature ensures both the balance of nature and the progress of the human race."

This Center is one of Amrita University's original research centers. Established soon after the first educational institutions started, the Center's mission has been to develop technologies that are environment-friendly, economically sound, socially acceptable and politically viable.

The Center played a major role in the greening of the Coimbatore Campus, where Amrita University headquarters is located. It was instrumental in transforming hundreds of acres of barren land into what is today, a lush-green, picturesque campus. The Center is now spearheading similar efforts on other Amrita campuses as well. Learn More >>
