Upon BEd Program Completion
After successful completion of B.Ed. Programme, graduates will
- Have the skills necessary for outstanding teaching of secondary school students, including communication skills and the ability to organize extra-curricular activities
- Have excellent content knowledge in general education subjects as well as their areas of specialization
- Have developed self-awareness, sensitivity towards others and the ability to work as part of a team
- Be equipped to cause desirable changes and transformation in the community-at-large and in the field of education
- Be proficient in academic activities including research and use of computers
- Have concern for the environment and its protection
- Be prepared to respond creatively to global trends and demands
Admissions Criteria
Admissions to the B.Ed. course follows the guidelines set by National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
(Amrita University).
Candidates must have a B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.B.M, M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. or equivalent from a recognized university, and have studied subjects as detailed below:
- English (mandatory)
- A regional language (mandatory)
- Any three of the these subjects
- Agriculture, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Economics, Education, Environmental Science, Geography, History, Home Science, Mathematics, Microbiology, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sericulture, Sociology, Statistics, Zoology
- OR one principal subject for three consecutive years and two ancillary subjects for two years
Candidates must meet the NCTE norm of 45% or more in their graduate or post-graduate qualifying examination in their respective subjects. Candidates who have appeared or are appearing for their final qualifying examination are eligible to apply. Their admission will be contingent on their passing the qualifying examination before the date of admission.

Admissions Process
Candidates must complete an Amrita School of Education application
and submit it before the specified deadline. Short-listed candidates
will be invited for a Counseling / Interview with the Admissions
Committee. They must provide evidence of their qualifying graduate or
post-graduate examination with marks earned and a Transfer Certificate
at that time. During the interview, emphasis will be given to
communication skills, content knowledge and attitude towards the
teaching profession.
Candidates who require special consideration due to physical limitations
must submit a medical certificate. Please note that the Amrita School
of Education does not provide transportation for candidates to appear
for the Counseling / Interview or any other part of the selection
process.
Successful candidates will be notified of their acceptance into the program.
