In the era of Information Technology, communication and network constitute the core of the information exchange. The information exchange is facilitated through books comprising nearly 10,000 in number with individual titles around 3040 and journals and magazines .

Vidya - The Digital Library

Amrita Digital Library is appropriately known as VIDYA. It began as a modest Digital Information Repository, but the mounting demand for quality learning found an effective answer once VIDYA collected and organized learning materials from some of the most reputed universities/ research centres around the world. Today, students incorporate this archived material into their learning schedules and this is contributing immensely to in-depth understanding of subjects taught and knowledge expansion. VIDYA, is a multimedia-rich 1.5 Tera Byte of organized information comprising audio and articles, video lectures, journals, news shows and documentaries running into thousands of hours of programmes from around the world. All these are available exclusively to Amrita students on the campus network through Streaming and On-demand mode, opening new gateways to the greatest masters across the globe.

The Library has vast resource of materials in the form of CDs & DVDs.

 

Infrastructure

Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Mysore has an eco-friendly, fully networked campus with WiFi Connectivity. It has state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, computing and communication resources.

The environment of the School, with a serene Ashram atmosphere, in the midst of trees, shrubs and garden forms a perfect setting for all academic endevours.

Spacious and well lit class rooms add to the pleasure of learning.

Utilities and services such as the mess, campus store, canteen, telephone kiosk, photocopying facility are located within the campus.

Labs

In the era of Information Technology, communication and network constitute the core of the information exchange. This has been visualized in every corner of the School lab through the networking map. It has state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, computing and communication resources. More than 200 nodes connected via ethernet switches of the network. Each Computer is at least a Core 2 Duo, fully connected terminal. Thus ensuring that there is atleast one high end computer available to each student and faculty within the campus. Each terminal is not only loaded with the basic softwares, but also allows students access to the more sophisticated design tools. The campus has 10 Mbps internet connection. The well equipped labs at Amrita provides access to students on a 1:1 basis.

Faculty & Administrative Block

The academic block consists of class rooms, labs, browsing center, library & faculty rooms. The administrative Block houses the offices of the Principal, Reception, Administration, Accounts, Student Welfare, Centre for Corporate Relations, Examination Section, and other support services.

Sports & Games facilities

The Campus has facilities for outdoor sports such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball as well as indoor games like table tennis, chess and carom.

Hostel

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The rooms are furnished with a bed and cupboard for each occupant. Hot water, TV Rooms with digital transmission are available at both hostels. A convenience store, Local/STD/ISD facility and student warehouse are available at the campus. Ragging, gambling in any form, consumption of alcoholic drinks and smoking are strictly prohibited. Any violation of the rules of the hostels entails harsh punitive actions including suspension/expulsion from the campus.
